Guarded

Guarded, Jemeria Cummings, Middle Georgia Christian Voice, Psalm 34:18

Imagine being in a room with 100 other people. The speaker of the hour steps onto the podium and asks, “How many of you had someone you trusted hurt you?” Without a second’s thought you notice everyone breathing in the room shoots their hand up in the air, some even two.

The speaker asks another question, “How many of you had someone you trusted hurt you more than once?” You look around and you notice fewer hands raised this time. The speaker asks his final question, “How many of you had someone you trusted hurt you over 10 times?” You look around to see even fewer hands up. Wait, why did the number of hands decrease?

The Brokenhearted

The answer is this, after being hurt time after time, and sometimes by the same person and sometimes by different people, you become guarded. You mask your pain by barricading the entrance of your heart with metal bars and by mentally writing the book titled (Insert your name here) Step-By-Step Guide To Never Getting Hurt Again.

The Lord is near to the heartbroken and
he saves those who are crushed in spirit.
~ Psalms 34:18 ~

Loved ones abused you and treated you cruelly hurt some of you. Some significant others betrayed your trust. Then some by coworkers you felt had your best interest at heart only to find out they were using you for their gain. Be thankful unto Him and bless His name.

He Is There

God was there, even though you couldn’t feel Him. He is here now to rescue you. He carries you when life is more than you can bear. God promises to work EVERYTHING out for your good!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for every act of hatred, abuse, jealousy, conniving behavior, and unfaithfulness I have endured was not overlooked, but is working in my favor. I take my guard down and place you at the center of my heart to lead and guide me in every relationship. Help me forgive and let go in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
